Thank you!!!

1 min read
Bless those of you that sent me cards, art, a messageof encouragementand hope. :)
Surgery was a success, and though they had to take out several orgqns and manhandle others (plus do chemo) they think they got ALL the cancer out.

I will still need chemo in the fall, but things...are looking up, and actually positive. I am out of the hospital, qnd will be heading back home this sunday.

Thank you all for the love, the kindness. You helped me through a really rough time.

Leaving for Calgary the day after tomorrow - have to be in a few days early for blood tests and surgery prep. Surgery is on the 7th of June.

CONTACT Info and Mailing Address

After speaking with my sister, its probably best to ship postcards/ cards there ( thank you so much for the offer Chelsea! <3 <3 ); so, with her leave, her address is posted up on the blog: ( beatingjellybelly.blogspot.ca/ )

Email can be sent to Chris': erekose13ATgmail.com ; between them, they will pass messages and cards along. Thank you so much for the book suggestions, for the  prayers and good energy. I do ask that if you have a flu/ nasty cold you don't actually mail things though ( maybe e-cards instead? : ) )... infection would be a really bad thing while I'm recovering, so I have to take extra care to make sure everything is extra sterilized.

In regards to communication, I will be in surgery on June 7th, which means that Chris will be at the hospital. He really won't be able to answer emails/ phone a lot of people, as you can understand. The staff should let him know every few hours how everything is going, and he will pass the info along to my sister Ula ( so she can update family) as well as post it here on the blog.

So, further updates will be on the blog ( beatingjellybelly.blogspot.ca/ ) pretty much - after Chris heads back home Ula will be posting blog updates. Hopefully there's not much to report beyond a great operation and a quick recovery, but we wanted to have a central place to post updates and news. I know from personal experience that sometimes not knowing ( and imagining all sorts of terrible things ) is worse than being aware of what is going on, even if there are setbacks/ complications.

I hope to be back by August, if everything goes well. <3 <3

I got a date for my Mother of all Surgeries -- June 7th. Tons of things I need to get done before ( a colonoscopy, vaccines etc)  but I'm so relieved that we have an actual date now and it isn't that far off.

The MOAS is brutal, but it improves the prognosis significantly. I will probably be in the hospital at least 6 weeks after that, so I likely won't be that active on here.

Still - if you have time to spare a thought or a prayer on that date, they would be much, much appreciated.

Here's to beating the cancer!!!

Just got home from our consultation with the experts, and the good news is that the Mother of All Surgeries is a go!
Although the tumour has grown again and taken over other areas its apparently low grade enough that it can still be operated on, and hopefully kept at bay with a combination of the operation and chemotherapy- both during ( HIPEC) and in the 3-4 months after.

These will be some long, long months ahead --  but at least there is also a clear hope to hold on to. Onwards and upwards -- thank you for all the wonderful wishes,  (Jenny, for your beautiful image!) and all the song suggestions. I was thinking of you all and your positive energy crossing the rockies to see the experts at Tom Baker.

Full details I put in my blog, as it might be TMI....  beatingjellybelly.blogspot.ca/

Well, this week we go on a road trip - away to Calgary to my consultation with the  appendix cancer specialists at the Tom Baker Centre in Calgary.
Still drives me crazy that with all the cancer research in BC there isn't a place there that can treat this thing, but I'm thankful that Calgary is only the next province over. Hopefully after our consultation on the 24th  I will have more solid ideas on what the battle plan is, and that they confirm I'm a good candidate for the surgery. I'm really hoping they give me a date too, so that we can figure out how to  arrange it all.

With that in mind, Music Suggestions Please?

A couple of my friends  helped me start a Fight the Jelly  song list - positive music to put us all in the right mood. Since this will be a road trip I would really love suggestions on other positive, going-to-kick-your-butt songs! Could use all the positive energy you can send my way.

So far we have:

    I'm still standing- Elton John
Eye of the Tiger - Survivor
Gonna Fly now ( Rocky theme) - Bill Conti
Just Stand up (against cancer)- Rihanna, various
You haven't seen the last of me - Cher
